Welcome to the Counseling Services of Eileen L. O’Connell, LCSW. I have a full-time private psychotherapy practice in a conveniently located professional office building in St. Petersburg. Public bus service stops in front of the building and the office is handicapped accessible. I accept all major insurance companies with the exception of Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO and I accept self-paying clients as well.

I have more than 25 years of experience as a behavioral health therapist and have Master’s degrees from both Harvard University and Smith College.

My areas of specialty are addictions counseling, and therapy with children and adolescents. I have a post-graduate certificate in Child and Adolescent Treatment as well as extensive training in family therapy.

I am also experienced at working with individuals who are troubled by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and need stress management. I am able to assist clients with referrals to various treatment programs as well as to psychiatrists for medication consults when necessary.

My philosophy of treatment is that individuals have their own solutions to their problems within themselves but can lose their way to their creative center when in a state of distress. As your therapist I try to be your ally and offer support and problem-solving strategies to help you access all available resources, both internal and external.
