Counseling 101

Going for counseling can be a scary thought and a major step in your life. Why would you want to do that? What would drive you to make that decision? The reasons are many, but generally due to a significant event, condition, or stage in your life. These reasons may bring on undue stress, anxiety, depression, and/or chaos. 
Let’s take a look at the reasons that might motivate you to seek a counselor:

Total acceptance of the client - being non-judgmental and trustworthy
To keep client on track
To encourage client to express his/her feelings, story, hopes for the future
To assist client in developing a plan - goals for the future
To give client support and guidance
